Heather L. Makar

Nutrition Coach

Heather has had an interest in natural health for as long as she could remember. Her passion was initially fuelled by her father’s heart attacks at age 44, and the decline of both of her parents’ health conditions over the years has only strengthened her conviction that the answers to many of our current health dilemmas can be found by looking at what nature gives us. She herself suffered with poor digestion, rosacea, and an inability to lose weight ever since she was a child. After giving up wheat and dairy, and focusing her food choices on a more Paleolithic template, her health has improved dramatically.

Through studying nutrition, fitness, and the precise biochemical processes that regulate our health, Heather has been able to offer individualized guidance to many people seeking to improve their overall level of wellness. Her own research is largely centered on optimal nutrition, mitochondrial respiration, metabolic regulation, and overall longevity. She has been certified through Level 1 of the Precision Nutrition program, and is continuing through Level 2. She is currently pursuing certification through MovNat and NASM.
